A bald eagle theme would be wonderful for this ride.

I was hoping this too. That theme would fit in nicely considering how close the ride would sit to the Eagle Mtn sanctuary part of the park.

I was out at DW last week. Nothing new that the photos haven't already captured other than a large crane now in place.

In preparation for Boomsday approaching this upcoming weekend, our local newspaper has also been including stickers on the top right-hand side of the front page:

(Sorry it's kinda blurry. But you can get the idea).

Only a few more days until we find out what is in store. :D
(Now if only the weather can cooperate for the fireworks on Sunday.)

It's official... Wild Eagle will open at Dollywood in March 2012 as America's first B&M Wing Rider.

Standing at 21 stories tall, the ride will feature a 135 foot first drop, it will reach speeds of up to 65 mph, and it will have 4 inversions.

This looks like a coaster worthy of the hassle it'll take to fly back here next year from Denver :) I trust D-Wood will do another amazing job with the theming on Wild Eagle, in addition to the great layout it features.

Note sure if everyone saw the layout over the topography

The use of the topography looks good. Normally when you see coasters on the sides of hills the lift is smaller and the first drop makes use of the hillside to make a longer drop. With Wild Eagle being the exact opposite with a 210 foot lift but only a 135 foot drop, I think it'll help the ride have great pacing throughout as it makes up that 75 feet of elevation. This thing should be hauling all the way into the brake run. Not to mention, a conventional vertical loop with those huge trains is going to be impressive looking.

This is an excellent addition for Dollywood, really solidifying their great coaster collection. I'm also glad to see them do something with B&M since Silver Dollar City has had Wildfire for a while. I especially like how they have set the opening date for March so there is no way (baring construction delays) that this will not be the first Wing Rider in the U.S. since SFGAm doesn't usually open until May, making X-Flight, although touted as first announced, the second Wing Rider in the U.S.

Great addition to the best park in the SE, outside of Florida!

Dollywood has added new construction shots along with a new episode of "Under the Wing" showing backstage footage of Wild Eagle. Notable in the new shots is that the base of the lift is up along with the station track. They definitely are not wasting any time!
