The commission will also review the plans for the River Rush, the next ride planned for Dollywood’s Splash Country. The attraction, which is planned for 2013, is billed as “Tennessee’s first water coaster.”

Dollywood officials have already released the plans for the coaster, but this will be the commission’s first opportunity to review it and see whether it falls under city guidelines.

I'm looking forward to having one of these up here. Looks to be a lot like Crush 'n Gusher at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon.

Looking good so far! You can really see the ride taking form when riding along Veteran's Blvd just near the fire station.

Excellent. Should prove to be a thrilling addition to this water park. We may have to stop at Splash Country in the near future!

Those holes in the tube tunnels and the grills.
Those suction devices?

What keeps the boats from flying off track?

The holes on the sides, and the grills you see appear to be where the water is introduced onto the track. The grills in the dips appear to be used for drainage of the dips.

The boats have magnetic plating on their bottom. And are propelled via LIMS (linear induction motors). The LIMS sit below the surface of the "track" on the uphll portions. You can see it in various videos.

I would say the weight of the boat and the riders keeps it from flying off the track, much like a traditional water slide does.
